Cooking on a boat isn’t exactly easy, especially if your model doesn’t come with an included galley or kitchen. However, we here at Germaine Marine want to make sure that you and your passengers all have something good to eat so you have plenty of energy to spend the day having fun out on the water. For tips on how to prepare some delicious meals from the comfort of your deck, check out our article below.

Make a Plan

Space on a boat is often limited, and it can be difficult trying to store perishable ingredients as the summer sun sits overhead. To ensure you still have something delicious to eat after a long day cruising across blue waters, we recommend coming up with a simple game plan to ensure you know exactly what you’re cooking, how much you’ll need, and what ingredients to bring along to make it all happen. However, because space is limited, we encourage you to do your best to keep meals simple and straightforward. It’s also a good idea to stick with non-perishable or canned goods when possible, to ensure you have plenty of space in your cooler to store more heat-sensitive food items.

Gather Tools

To successfully cook on your boat, you’re going to need to bring along a plethora of important tools. For starters, you’ll need to make sure that there are enough forks, spoons, knives, and plates for everyone on board, as well as enough cookware to help you complete the dish you plan to make. If you don’t have a heat source on your boat, there are a number of cold dish recipes you could take advantage of. However, if you’d prefer to have a hot meal while out on the water there are a number of portable grills available for boats, as well as space-saving hot plates—although they will require access to an electrical outlet.
