Pontoon Boat Activities
One of the most popular family recreation boats available is the pontoon. These crafts have come a long way from their simpler beginnings. Modern pontoon boats are spacious, comfortable and well-stocked with amenities. They provide you with a wide, flat deck that’s extremely stable so your guests can mill about without feeling seasick. Pontoons are excellent entertainment boats because of these traits, and you may not even realize all the potential they possess!
This guide to pontoon boat activities comes to you courtesy of the folks at Grand Bay Marine in Traverse City and Charlevoix, Michigan. We hope you find something that you and your family will be excited to do!
Host A Dinner Party
Your pontoon can instantly take dinner from good to great. It provides lots of room for you to store and serve food. You can prepare cold dishes like salads, dips and desserts in advance and make use of a boat grill for hot food. Think about trying a particular theme such as taco night or a luau party.
If you’d rather not put as much work into cooking, but you’re still willing to host, invite your friends to bring dishes for a potluck instead. You can plan out the dishes and supply drinks instead, in addition to decorating your pontoon festively for the occasion.
Plan A Board Game Tournament
Another great activity that’s made better by doing it on the water is board game night! Your pontoon’s deck is reasonably stable compared to other boats, so you won’t have to worry about pieces flying everywhere. You can still opt for card games or games that don’t have as many pieces so you aren’t likely to lose them.
Use dinner trays or fold-out portable tables and chairs so everyone can play against one another. Winners can challenge each other to claim the ultimate championship, for which you can provide some manner of prize. It’s a fun way to spend quality time with your friends and family, and all ages can enjoy it!
Put On A Movie
If you have a means of hanging up a sheet or screen on your pontoon, you can use a projector and a set of speakers to play a movie out on the water. Bring some bagged popcorn, boxes of candy and bottles of soda to create a true movie theatre experience. Provide blankets for everyone to curl up under since this will be easier to do when it’s dark out. You can also go more low-key and simply play a film on a laptop that everyone gathers around.
Meet Up With Your Club
If you’re a member of some manner of social club that meets at public places or at members’ houses, why not suggest moving the venue to the lake? Invite the members of your book club, knitting group, quilting circle or bird-watching club to join you on your pontoon. If you don’t already participate in one of these clubs, maybe you can start one! Or ask your friends what they might want to do, like hosting a beer or wine tasting night. This is an easy way to enjoy time on your boat with friends.
As you can see, pontoon boats make ideal entertainment headquarters. They’re fun for people of all ages and your friends and family will enjoy partaking in these activities with you.
